ART AFTER SCHOOL
Children’s Art After School classes are funded in part by the Oklahoma Arts Council, Norman Art Council and the City of Norman. Please contact the FAC for information regarding need-based scholarships.
The FAC is committed to quality art education. The “Creating with the Masters” series helps children build both basic and advanced thinking skills and promotes diverse modes of thinking and learning. Each class is unique with faculty focusing on different artists every session.
IT TAKES A VILLAGE...CHAGALL 5-6 yrs old
Mondays, September 14 - November 2 4:00-5:15 PM
This course will look at the colorful work of Marc Chagall from his roots in a Russian Village, to exile in Paris, the United States and finally to his settling in the south of France. Students will be encouraged to create their own magical, mythical, painterly 2D and 3D worlds filled with strange creatures and imaginative happenings. Students will learn many painting techniques; create a 3D sculpture based on Chagall’s ‘clock’ paintings and finish with a paper ‘stained glass’ window for the holiday season.

PAINTING & COLLAGE 5-6 yrs old
Saturdays, Sept. 19 - Nov. 7 10:00-11:15 AM
This class will explore the techniques of Georges-Pierre Seurat, Henri Matisse, and Marcel Duchamp with an emphasis on reusing materials and the discovery of art in nature and everyday life. Students will learn pointillism through the introduction of Seurat. Brilliant colors and cutout designs will be introduced through the work of Matisse, and the work of Duchamp will encourage students to find art in nature and everyday life through the use of usual objects.
